This is why they got toally fed up and disheartened and decided to simply give up and sell the site.
The site was created for users to share HOME videos - shot with video camera or cell phone including sound.
What the founders of YouTube did not expect was the teen obsession with uploading copyright music. Not only somehow thinking this is okay but actually criticising YouTube for muting/deleting the video. Uploading copyright content onto the web, into the public domain is legally regarded as unauthorized copying - redistributing it on a public site.
Despite the numerous copyright advisories in YouTube's FAQ's, teens refused to desist and so, in the eyes of YouTube's founders, destroyed the site
